Test your Suffolk knowledge in our Suffolk Day Quiz. Taking place at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start, it costs just £3.00 per person to enter, and you’ll get a free bowl of chilli to enjoy during the break. All money raised from the quiz will go into our Elmer fund, raising money for St Elizabeth Hospice. The winning team will receive a free tour of our very own Microbrewery, The Briarbank Bar and Brewery, for up to 10 people. During the tour, you’ll find out more about where and how our beer is made. Plus, afterwards why not make your way upstairs to the first-floor bar and sample some of our hand-crafted beers.

The Ultimate Stronger and Safer Arcoroc Pint and Half Pint Glass

Isaacs on the Quay introduces the Ultimate Stronger and Safer Arcoroc Pint and Half Pint Glass.

In readiness for St Patrick’s Day, Saturday 17th March 2018, following months of research and testing into the best and safest glasses to use, we will be saying goodbye to our Polycarbonate glasses and switching over to the Ultimate Stronger and Safer Arcoroc Pint and Half Pint Glass, 100% recyclable, 100% professional.

When we originally switched from glass to polycarbonate in December 2009, we had every reason to believe that the industry would follow, however, apart from in some limited instances this has not happened. The safety of our staff and customers is paramount, and the decision to switch away from polycarbonate glasses was not an easy one to make. The decision was made following feedback from both our staff and customers, but also upon reviewing the enhanced safety glassware which is now available on the market. We’ve undergone lots of research to bring what we believe to be the safest of glassware to our bars.

The tempering technique developed over 50 years was originally developed for use in windscreens. The product is five times stronger and more durable than ordinary glass. As a result, when a glass is broken, it will not break into dangerous shards. Instead, it will disintegrate into tiny fragments. These glasses also offer more heat resistance, withstanding temperatures of up to 130 degrees. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal customers, the Local Licencing Authority and Suffolk Police, who fully supported and backed our voluntary decision to use polycarbonate in the first place.

There may be occasions, such as large events and during exceptionally busy times that the polycarbonate glasses may make a reappearance, but on the whole, all drinks will now be served in glass.
